A Fresh Start in Gardening
When BCP Council supported intern Ollie shared his passion for gaining experience in landscape gardening, Stem Garden Design proved to be the perfect match.
Founded 16 years ago by Lucy Bolger and Bec Forbes, Stem Garden Design is known for working with wonderful clients who value creativity, passion, and thoughtful garden design. Discovery is delighted to welcome this inspiring business to the BCP Council Supported Internship programme.
Here’s Ollie on his first day, getting to know the tools of the trade and diving into his very first gardening tasks.

A special thank you to Lucy and Bec for going above and beyond by creating a SEND‑friendly induction and logbook.
This allows Ollie to record his daily activities, for example documenting:
- the weather
- seasonal flowers and plants
- plant, weed and birdsong of the week
- new gardening techniques he’s learning
What a fantastic opportunity for Ollie and our future interns.
Huge thanks again to Stem Garden Design, for coming on board and helping our interns grow. It is wonderful that our programme offers such a variety of placements both internal and external to the Council, to give interns the opportunity to experience different industries.
